Help disadvantaged people

Many people do not have a home to sleep in, or enough food to eat.

5 things you can do

1. Organise a sleep-out at school, where students are not permitted to bring any comforts from home. This will raise awareness of homelessness. It could also be a fundraiser for a homeless shelter.

2. Collect cans of food and donate them to a food bank.

3. Create a hat tree where people can hang hats, coats, scarves and gloves. When the tree is full, invite a worker from a homeless shelter or charity to accept your school’s donations.

4. Invite a guest speaker in from a local soup kitchen or mobile soup van to explain what they do and what it's like for people on the streets. You may even be able to convince them to drive the soup van to the school so that students can have a look.

5. Organise a pre-loved clothing and toys drop box at school, and then donate them to a local op shop.
