Help people with illness

Many hospitals only take volunteers over the age of 18, but don't let that stop you from helping!

5 things you can do

1. Offer to water the garden and look after pets of someone who is in hospital or has a family member who is in hospital.

2. Organise groups of students to write colourful cards to fellow students in hospital - a little time goes a long way!

3. Hold an awareness day for leukaemia, a disease that affects many children's lives. There may even be some interesting things you can do with your hair to raise money for the cause!

4. Visit someone you know in hospital - bring something to cheer him/her up such as books, magazines, or flowers.

5. Offer to make lunches for some kids at school whose parent is in hospital - they may be missing out on homemade lunches.

Share your experience

YVolunteer wants to encourage lots of young people to volunteer and help their community. If you are already doing something, tell us about it! We will post your story so that other young people can read it and get inspired.
